You’re always due a refund but it takes forever
You’re VAT registered and reverse charge is confusing
You don’t know what to keep aside for tax
Your books are “a bag of receipts” (no judgement)

FAQs (CIS Subcontractors)
Why am I being deducted 30%?
Usually because you’re not verified or registered correctly with the contractor/HMRC. We help fix the status and reduce deductions going forward.
Is CIS taken off the whole invoice?
Not usually. Deductions should typically apply to labour (and certain other costs), not direct materials, and VAT is handled separately. We check your invoices and contractor statements for errors.
How do I claim CIS tax back?
Sole traders claim CIS deductions through Self Assessment. Limited companies typically offset CIS deductions against payroll liabilities. We handle the process and keep the evidence tidy.
Do I need to be VAT registered?
It depends on turnover and your circumstances. If you are VAT registered, reverse charge may apply and we’ll make sure it’s treated correctly.
Should I go limited company?
Sometimes yes — but not always. We’ll compare your expected profit, tax position, CIS deductions, and cashflow before recommending anything.
